Maintenance of the fireplace or stove by the stove fitter

The season has come again - the leaves are falling from the trees and it's getting cold and uncomfortable outside. That means it's time to prepare for the heating season. To ensure that the fireplace is safe and works properly without loss of efficiency, it should be serviced regularly by the stove fitter before the heating season. Checks by the stove fitter are summed up here.

Enhancing the efficiency

The soot deposits that build up in the system over time have a negative effect on wood consumption and efficiency. Soot has an insulating effect and can reduce heat generation. It is therefore advisable to have the stove installer regularly clean soot deposits from the reheating surface (which is present, for example, in water-bearing devices). This increases the efficiency and reduces wood consumption.

Safety guarantee

Soot deposits can also form in other places, such as at cross-sections, with unpleasant consequences. The deposits can make it difficult for the gases to get out, which means they can enter the living space. In addition, the stove may no longer draw properly and be more difficult to light. A cleaning of the combustion air cross-sections by the stove fitter is therefore recommended before each heating period.

In addition, other parts are checked during maintenance by the stove fitter. Wear parts, such as the sealing cords on the door and viewing glass, are checked and replaced to ensure smooth use of the fireplace. Other openings and air grilles are also cleaned to prevent dirt deposits and dust from being drawn into the living space. To ensure a sufficient air supply for combustion, leaves, cobwebs, etc. are removed from the outside air connection. The combustion chamber is cleaned of ash and deposits and, if an electronic stove control (EOS) is present, the electronic components are checked.

All-round Service

In addition to the parts mentioned above, many other areas of the device are checked to ensure a long stove life with consistent efficiency. In addition, the furnace builder checks the quality of the fuel wood in terms of its moisture, which helps to save wood.

Specialist tip

A stove inspection should be carried out by a specialist company every 1-2 years. This way a long service life of the device is ensured so you can enjoy the fire for a long time.
